In addition to his parents, Sam is predeceased by his wife Frances (Hawkins) Colpitts; brothers Donald Colpitts, John Colpitts, Bill Colpitts; sisters Marie Mather, Ann Williams, Joan Colpitts and Alta Scott.
On November 9, 1932, Ora Samuel Colpitts was born on Parleeville Road in Norton NB.
In his early years, Sam faced many challenges, but with tenacity and a strong will, he overcame them to go on to enjoy his time with family and friends. All his life, Sam was a hard worker and was proud of his time in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces. He was proud of his heritage and his unique number, 473112, developed by Dr Anna Chavell, in the Colpitts Genealogy Listing. He was very proud of his place in the Colpitts family history.
After Fran’s passing Sam enjoyed listening to the old country music station, visits from his children and family, and his home care workers, playing crib with anyone who visited him and making sure everyone knew when he “skunked” Rita, although he never mentioned when Rita “skunked” him”. Sam had a wonderful sense of humour and was known to enjoy a good joke and loved playing pranks on his friends.
The family would like to especially thank Rita Hanlon for her compassionate care over the years. Also, the family recognizes the professional care given to Sam by Dr. Chantal Samson and the care given by the staff of Ridgewood Veterans Wing during Sam’s short time there.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00pm, with the funeral service commencing at 2pm.
