Although it's been over 45 years since I had Mrs. Reicker as a teacher, I will remember her with great fondness. I always enjoyed our conversations whenever we had occasion to happen upon each other. To all of Shirley Family…..This is not an easy day for any of you. Losing a mom is not an easy thing, they were the first to hold you. nurture you, fix all the scrape news, wipe your tears and give you advice that was always 99% correct as you get older and look back you realize that … Shirley was our kids teacher, really, one of a kind, that soft gentle voice would take away any of the worry if they were sad in the morning.She had such a bond with so many people…would be seen with her arm around a little child in the hallways, always caring for them. Love to get my little phone calls from her as the kids were grown and out on their own she was always happy for them or be our chats at the grocery store never in a hurry to leave …She had a heart of gold and shared it with every one she meet…you will all miss every thing about her….her voice ,hugs ,phone calls.gentle touch and love cause she was the glue to keep everyone together cherish all your wonderful memories of one sweet lady…..no wonder Roland asked her to marry him… hugs to all

So saddened to hear of Mrs Reickers passing. All these years she's tried to make me call her Shirley. Always felt wrong even after 40+ years! She was one of the most amazing teachers, people I've had impact my life. I can remember curling up on her lap at school when not feeling well, always a smile and encouraging to each and everyone of us! So sorry to hear of this great loss, condolences to the family. "Mrs. Reicker", as I fondly called her, although, she would always tell me, "it's Shirley", was my(Patti) 5th grade teacher and she was adored!! She was also the one who discovered, I needed glasses, to see far away, aka, the chalkboard! She would often tell me stories of when she stayed at my grandparents(Reicker's), all fond memories! We will miss her sweet smile and hugs, she was one of the good ones!! Thoughts and prayers are with you!

What wonderful memories I have of Mrs. Reicker, my grade 2 teacher. I’m sure there were times when she got upset, but I don’t recall those moments. I remember her sweet smile and the tender way she handled her classroom. I distinctly recall her playing tag with us on the playground. She would have only been in her early 40s back then.
My condolences to her family for this deep loss. The community has also lost a great treasure. One who was responsible for molding and shaping many of us as children.
