Obituary of Elaine Warfield

It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine Warfield announce her passing, which occurred on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at the Sussex Health Centre, Sussex, NB. Born in Clearfield, PA, USA on October 26, 1943, she was a daughter of the late James and Juanita (Davidson) Loss.

Elaine grew up in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and completed her Masters Program at Rutgers University in New Jersey. Elaine began her teaching career at Millidgeville North School in New Brunswick, prior to transferring to Kennebecasis Valley High when it opened in 1975. She retired from KVHS as the head of the Math Department in 2000 but continued tutoring students for many years afterwards. Elaine loved teaching and genuinely cared about her students, even coaching the rugby team so that they could play.

Elaine loved reading and averaged a book each day. However, even more than reading, she loved spending time with her friends and family, which definitely included her pets ranging from goats, rabbits, cows, dogs and cats!

Elaine is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Tammy Warfield and Mike Thorne. In addition to her parents, Elaine was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jimmie Warfield; and her sister, Evelyn Loss.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, where a Public Visitation will be held on Friday, October 14, 2022, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Funeral Service will also be held from Sherwood’s Funeral Home on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at 2:00 PM, with a reception to follow. A private family interment will take place at Kiersteadville Cemetery at a later time.

Donations in memory of Elaine may be made to Kiersteadville Cemetery, Lung Association (NB), or a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and memorial donations may be made through:  www.sherwoodsfuneralhome.com
