Dear Tammy and family, please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss. Elaine was a brilliant, funny and caring woman. From listening to her laugh around the card table to learning from her unique ability to make calculus simple in high school, I have many fond memories of Elaine.
Her devotion to teaching is something I will always remember and cherish. It truly takes a brilliant mind to convey complexity in simple terms - and I’m know that so many KVHSers made it through high school and first year university calculus because of Elaine’s amazing ability to make calculus more accessible. And she was always willing to offer help.
There are teachers who stand out over one’s lifetime as having a lasting impact and making a positive difference. Elaine is certainly that teacher for me.

So very sorry to hear this Tammy, I know how much you loved each other. Elaine taught me everything I know about teaching and I will forever be in her debt. Mrs. Warfield was my calculus teacher and yearbook advisor in Grade 12. I would work on the yearbook before school sometimes and she would buy me a cinnamon roll and milk. She also made calculus fun and I can still remember the songs she taught us. I have told my kids stories about her as she made such an impact on my life. Sending my sincere condolences.

So sorry to read of Mrs Warfield’s passing. I was lucky to have her as a home room teacher in grade 11 at Rothesay High in 1974. Elaine was kind and always in a good mood it seemed. She made a big difference to me as I had just moved to the area and she made the new school year a good one.

I was saddened to learn of your loss and wish to offer my condolences. Mrs. Warfield was one of my favourite teachers and the singular reason I survived my first year of calculus and physics at university. She brought clarity to a subject I found daunting and transformed the way I saw it. She had a kind heart, and an obvious conviction that anyone could learn to speak math if they worked at it. She was funny and virtually impossible to fool. All the way from the Ivy League to KVHS - how fortunate were we as teenagers to have sat in her classroom.

I've known your Mom for over 40 years and can't remember a time when she didn't have a big smile, she was such a happy person. What a beautiful picture of your mom. It was very interesting to read about her life story. I met her a few times through my sister-in-law Verna Sands. Verna considered her her best friend whom she trusted completely. They shared secrets like sisters and those stories shared only to each other.
