For Jack and all of the McMillan family,
It was with great sadness that we heard of Joan's passing. Joan was always up for a chat, whether it be 5 minutes in the grocery store, at the neighborhood block party or in a hockey rink or rugby field cheering on her kids or grandkids. She was an excellent listener, it was never about her, she always put you first. She was truly a loving, caring and supportive friend to all. Joan was a strong and proud woman who was loved and respected by everyone that knew her. Never doubt that she absorbed all of the love and caring from each of you and this made her eternally happy. Joan, the woman who lit up a room when she walked in it. Her laughter was contagious, her smirks and smiles always in abundance and the perennial life of the party. A long-ago memory from the summer of Joan’s first birthday: We were celebrating Aunt Oressa’s visit from Vancouver at a family party in the Midland Hall. Joan, a precious toddler in her dress and white walking shoes, was generally being adored. Gripped in her tiny tiny hand was a discarded gum wrapper from which she “read” intently, both silently and aloud. A wee girl destined to become a fine woman!
