Obituary of Ethel Louise Northrup

It is with great sadness that the family of Ethel Louise Northrup announces her passing which occurred on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at Mill Cove Nursing Home. Born in Saint John, NB, on August 9, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Emma Louisa (Abbott) and Elliot Morrell.

Ethel will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her friends, and her God. She had a wonderful sense of humour and will be missed by many. She was known within her community for volunteering, supporting missions, and sharing the scriptures over her CB Radio. She loved all sorts of crafts, including painting, sewing, quilting, and especially woodworking. Her favorite places to spend time were at her church and her home. At home she enjoyed gardening and poetry, and at church she was involved in the Missions Committee, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Awana, and J.A.M (Jesus and me) Youth Group. Even unto her last days she lived out her favourite verse, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ" - Romans 1:16.

Ethel is survived by her loving children: Sherin Boyd (George) of Saint John, Irene Mott of Belyeas Cove, NB, and Clarence Northrup (Grace) of Sussex; her grandchildren: David, Louise, Chris, Jody, Tammy, Pamela, Eileen, Noreen, Carla, Patricia, Emery, Stephen, and Ashley.  Ethel is also survived by many great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Ethel is predeceased by her husband, Lawrence Northrup; her son, Arthur Northrup; her daughter, Evelyn Northrup; her sister, Helen Dicks; her brother, Ernest Morrell; her sister-in-law, Flora Morrell; her son-in-law Russell Mott; her grandsons, Harvey and Nathan; and her great-granddaughter, Emma. Earlier this year, Ethel was also predeceased by her special friend, Lydia Webster.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB where visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 3:00 to 6:00pm. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private service and interment will be held.
