Obituary of Harry Matheson

With heavy hearts and sadness the family of Harry Edward Matheson, age 77, announces his passing which occurred at his residence on Friday, November 22, 2024. He was born in Saint John, NB, on January 24, 1947, the son of the late Murray and Hazel (Law) Urquhart.

Harry was the most selfless, free spirited, fun loving, big hearted man you would ever meet. He loved his three Daughters more than any words can properly express. Harry truly lived his life to the fullest. In his younger years, you could find him on the golf course, on a riverbank fishing, or in his tree-stand waiting for that trophy buck to walk out into view. In his later years, Harry could be seen cruising in his jeep with the top down, doors off and his music playing as loud as the stereo would allow. The highlight of his week would always be Thursday night poker with the boys.

Harry will be sadly missed by his daughters: Tina (Mike) Ramsay of Ontario, Kelly Matheson of The Glades, NB, Justine (Logan) Smith of Calgary, AB; grandchildren: Brendan, Zachary, Elliott, Malcolm; brothers: twin brother Walter (Bella) Matheson, Bill Matheson, Murray (Shannon) Urquhart; sister Celia (Willard) Kennedy; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brothers Bryan Urquhart and John Urquhart.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home (506-839-2156), Norton, NB and will be held privately.   Donations in the memory of Harry may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a memorial of the donor’s choice.
