Obituary of Evelyn Elsie Abbott

It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Elsie Abbott announce her passing which occurred on August 10, 2024, at her home in Belyea’s Cove, NB.  Born in Saint John, NB on May 28,1953, she was the daughter of the late Cecil and Bertha (Doucet) Burden.

Evy grew up in the south end of Saint John with her loving parents and two sisters.  In grade nine, she met Chris Abbott, the man she would marry and spend the rest of her days with.  She made her home on the east side of Saint John where she worked for the school board district 6 and 8.  While raising her two children they enjoyed camping trips and vacations as a family through those years.  They built The Camp together in Belyea's Cove with the help of their friends and family and turned it into their retirement home.  If the clothes were hung out on the line, the gardens had been tended to and her grandchildren were running around the yard - it was a good day.

Evelyn is survived by her loving husband Chris Abbott of Belyea’s Cove, NB; children: Jennifer Green (David) of Shannon, NB and Cory Abbott (Tara) of Saint John, NB; grandchildren: Brody Gillespie, Lily Green and Jack Green; sisters: Dianne Wills (Stewart) of Saint John, NB and Jane McNulty (Francis) of Saint John, NB; as well as several nephews and extended family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, from 12:00 to 2:00pm with the funeral service following at 2:00pm. Donations in memory of Evelyn may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
