Obituary of Gladys Hart
It is with great sadness that Gladys Dorothy Hart’s family announces her passing which occurred on Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Carleton-Kirk Lodge Nursing Home, Saint John, NB at the age of 94. She was born in Belleisle Creek, NB on May 31, 1929, a daughter of the late Fred and Isabella (Ness) O’Neill.
Gladys is survived by her daughters: Patti (Orrin) Smith of Berwick, NS, Pam Folkins of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren: Rebecca Wisted, Rachel Wisted, Matthew Folkins; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband Leonard, Gladys was also predeceased by her sisters: Mary O’Neill, Edith Benson; brothers: Fred O’Neill and Rolph O’Neill.
Gladys’s passion was teaching. In her earlier career she spent several years at Belleisle Regional High School. In her later career she spent many years at Norton Elementary School, as well as a few years at Norton Junior High School. She was also a lifelong member of the St. Simon & St. Jude’s Anglican Church and a longtime member of the Belleisle Creek ACW. Additionally, she was a member of the Belleisle Creek Senior Citizens Group.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Sherwood’s Funeral Home (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. Funeral service will be on Friday, January 12, 2024 at 11:00AM, from St. Simon & St. Jude’s Anglican Church, Belleisle Creek.
