Knowing him and his family growing up in Belleisle it's was obvious at how much he and the entire Pope families have given back to the community. My thoughts are with all of the Pope family at this time. The things i remember most about Roy are his friendly greetings and the twinkle in his eyes accompanied with his chuckle..
I, for one, am very grateful that Roy choose to make Belleisle his home, and for the role he and his family have played in the growth of our community. I think of the many, many families of Belleisle Creek and surrounding areas that found employment with this family, and thus have a roof over our heads and food in the cupboard. I know first hand, as i am one.

Roy and Agnes were good friends of my parents, Ken and Kay Coone, who spoke highly of them and had great memories of their trip together across Canada. I remember being a little girl and going to the farm with Mom and Dad to pick strawberries. Roy would help me fill my boxes; such a vivid memory of his kindness.

Condolences to the Pope family. It was a joy getting to know Roy as I worked with him. Roy loved his family and enjoyed his visits. Roy was always welcoming and thankful for everything. Roy loved to share whatever was growing at the time.

Peter and Brenda ,Fred and Donna, Gwen and families, My sincere sympathy on the loss of your Dad, Father in law, Grandfather and Great Grandfather. Roy was a true gentleman. A kind and generous man and always with a smile and quiet way. He and Aggie certainly did a lot for their community and families. He left a great legacy for you all. For many years he would send down to the post office with a note saying Linder, I need some stamps and I would send them up addressed to Papa Pope with a smiley face and one sprig of hair on his head. I will miss our most senior neighbour, just as I miss seeing him and Aggie heading down to the hall on Saturday night for their card games ! May all your precious memories sustain you and give you comfort at this sad time.
