Obituary of Lois Doreen Sharp

It is with great sadness that the family of Lois Doreen Sharp announce her passing which occurred on Thursday, July 6, 2023, at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Passekeag, NB, on November 2, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Adolphus and Dorothy (Reid) Bettle.

Lois worked for NB Tel until it went dial and then worked for Dr. Winsor for many years following that. She was a life-long member of the Midland WI as well as the Norton Legion. Lois was a great cook and would prepare large meals for crowds all while making it look easy. She made all her own bread for many years using her woodstove. She was a hard worker and support for her husband Fred as they ran the farm over the years. Above all, she was a wonderful Mom and Grandmother to her children & grandchildren and will be missed by her family.

Lois is survived by her sons: Carl Sharp (Ann) of Quispamsis, NB and Robert Sharp (Darcia) of Dickie Mountain, NB; daughter-in-law Elsie Sharp of Kars, NB; grandchildren: Brian Sharp, Stephen Sharp (Krista), Matthew Sharp (Monica), Neil Sharp (Melanie), Amanda Lockhart (John) and Jared Sharp; great grandchildren: Ian, Eric, Keeley, Evan, Taylor and Jaylee; sisters-in-law: Irene Bettle, Shirley Bettle and Helen Bettle; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Lois was predeceased by her husband Fred Sharp; son Donald Sharp; sister Evelyn Sharp; and brothers: Ralph Bettle, Gerald “Gid” Bettle, Harold “Hap” Bettle and Carl Bettle.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Butler, Mercy and her staff at the Scenic View Special Care Home and to the staff of the Sussex Health Centre for their excellent care given towards Lois during her stay there. The family appreciated the tender care of her sister-in-law Helen Bettle. Your kindness and compassion shown towards Lois and her family will not be forgotten.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB.
