Obituary of Kenneth Robert Northrup
It is with great sadness that the family of Kenneth “Ken” Robert Northrup announce his passing which occurred on Saturday, April 1, 2023, at the Sussex Health Centre, Sussex, NB. Born in Shannon, NB, on May 2, 1947, he was the son of the late Eldon and Grace Northrup.
Ken, our Dad, was a driven man who worked hard his entire life. He was a skilled craftsman, mechan-ic/ist, woodsmen and many other trades that were all self-taught over the years. Dad used these skills for many years working for himself and later for the DOT as a Snow Plow and Ferry Operator until his retirement. Since then he spent most of his time in his woodworking shop and was well known for his axe, peavey & shovel handles in the area. He really could make or build anything you needed.
Dad was a man who kept to himself but those who knew him well knew he had a love for chocolate. We mean anything chocolate, cake, ice cream, rosettes, chocolate chips (Mom had a hard time keeping them in the house).
We were so fortunate to have him as our Dad and will be missed dearly by all.
Ken is survived by his loving wife Anna Northrup (Brown) of Henderson Settlement, NB; children: Julie Dearman (Robert) of Sussex, NB, Robert Northrup (Kim) of Sussex, NB, and Mary Price (Joe) of Smiths Creek, NB; grandchildren: Brandon, Austin, Meghan, Hannah, Jordan and Bailey; sisters: Linda Belyea and Bonny Tessier; brothers: Wayne Milberry, Jamie Milberry, and Roger Milberry (Carol); sister-in-law Ilean Northrup; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Ken was predeceased by his brother Leslie Northrup.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB where visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 from 4 to 7PM. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at 11:00AM from Sherwood’s Funeral Home, Norton, NB.
