Obituary of Valerie Edith Green

It is with great sadness that the family of Valerie Edith Green announce her passing, which occurred on Friday, October 1, 2021, at Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John, NB. Born in Springfield, NB, on April 29, 1951, she was a daughter of Mildred “Millie” (Erb) Webster and the late Paul Webster.

Valerie is survived by her son, Jeff Green of Sussex Corner, NB; daughter, Patricia Green (Michael Murphy) of Norton, NB; grandsons: Shayne, Brandon, and Ryan; brother, Ronnie Webster (Amber) of McDonald’s Point, NB; and sisters: Marie Carpenter of Cambridge Narrows, NB, Lois Belyea of Springfield, and Susan Webster (Preston MacDonald) of Belyeas Cove, NB; as well as many extended family members. In addition to her father, Valerie was predeceased by her loving husband, Lloyd William Green.

Through thick and thin, Valerie loved her family, and they loved her back. She spoke her mind freely and wore her heart on her sleeve. She would often be found knitting or watching her favourite movies and TV shows, and especially got a kick out of old Western movies and the Sunday Night Jamboree. For a night out, Valerie enjoyed playing darts, a good game of bingo, and helping out at the Legion. She loved her cats and dogs, and always took time to feed the birds, especially her hummingbirds and cardinals. She made friends with all of the animals around her, but none could come close to “nanny’s grandog”, Mimi, with whom she had a special bond with from the day Mimi came home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Center (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. A private graveside service will take from Bayview Cemetery, Hatfield Point, NB, at a later date.  Donations in memory of Valerie may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
