Gerna was so kind to me when I was trying to find out more about the Vail family. I am the son of Hazen C. Vail, who was brother to Gerna's dad Talmadge. I was born in the USA and never really got to know my family in Canada, Gerna and I somehow connected by mail back in 1989 or so. She told me she was preparing a book about the ancestry of The Vails of Bull Moose Hill. We stayed in touch via mail, and she sent me a copy of the finished book. It was a work of love and devotion and I copied it and passed on to my three kids. We never stayed in touch, as people often fo. But I have never forgotten her and her kindness. I'm sure she is missed by all who knew her.I was looking through the docs she sent me years ago in a senior moment of nostalgia. I tried Google to contact Gerna and found her obituary. I sit here with tears in my eyes.

To Gerna's family,
Very sorry to learn of Gerna's passing. I worked at the DOT in Norton during the winters in the early 90s. I always remember going to Donnie and Gerna's for a meal in the time leading up to Christmas. The meal was always great and the banter between Gerna and Merritt was even better. Great times for sure.
