Obituary of Byron Armstrong

It is with heavy hearts, that the family of Byron Donald Armstrong, of Kars, NB, announces his unexpected death, which occurred on Wednesday, January 14, 2015, at the age of 65. He was the husband of Sharon (Day) Armstrong. Byron was born in Saint John, NB, on April 17, 1949, the son of the late Donald and Louise (Brown) Armstrong. Byron is survived by his much loved and cherished wife of 44 years, Sharon Armstrong; he was the beloved father to his two sons Stephen Armstrong and his wife Angela of Kars, NB, Matt Armstrong and his wife Melissa of Kars, NB; he greatly loved and was tremendously proud of his grandchildren Kristen, Luke and Tori, also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother James Stanley Armstrong, who died at five weeks old in 1948. Byron was a man who had many interests which included woodworking, trucking, construction, cooking, and raising Angus cattle. His favorite things in life were family, the farm, tractors, cattle, peanut butter, and camaraderie with his fellow farmers. Having been raised as an only child, Byron appreciated marrying into such a large, accepting family (the Day family with its total of 12 siblings) who always made him feel a part of something special. He loved having all the added brothers and sisters and as time marched on the many nieces and nephews. Byron valued honesty and integrity above all in every situation and every relationship throughout his life. Among his accomplishments were the construction of three beautiful homes, garages, barns and out buildings, more importantly, he and Sharon raised two fine sons of whom he was justifiably proud of their integrity, honesty, love of family and work ethic. He enjoyed a good laugh and loved his grandchildren who affectionately called him "Grumpy". He is resting at Outreach Pentecostal Church, 2129 Route 124, Hatfield Point, NB, with visiting on Sunday, January 18, 2015 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 PM. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Dwight Cole and Charles Kennedy, will be held from Outreach Pentecostal Church at 11:00 AM on Monday, January 19, 2015 and will be live streamed through www.SherwoodsFuneralHome.com, if you are unable to attend. Interment will take place in Bayview Cemetery in the spring.
