Obituary of Jim Buchanan

The family of the late James Robert Buchanan of Sussex Corner and formerly of Norton, announces with sadness, his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday, December 27, 2014. He died within a short period of time after being diagnosed with cancer at the age of 86. He was the husband of the late Gladys (Smith) Buchanan who predeceased him in 1985. Jim is survived by his three children Florence Burgess of Sussex, Robert and Wendy Buchanan of Quispamsis, and Nancy and Andrew Peters of Hampton; grandchildren Chad, Jared, Erin, Emily, Sally and Sarah; great grandchildren William and Rae. Jim had a passion for antique automobiles, fiddling music and woodworking. He enjoyed taking long drives and seeing new sights and places, but most importantly he loved spending time with his children and grand children. Jim worked as an auto body repairman for years in Saint John, Sussex and Norton. In retirement he enjoyed wood working, part-time courier work, always lending a hand to help family and friends, taking a walk on the trail, and driving the back roads of Kings County. Visitation will be held at Sherwood's Funeral Home (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB on Tuesday, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 31, 2014, from St. John’s United Church, Sussex Corner, conducted by Rev. Eugene Fisher. Following cremation interment will take place in Kirk Cemetery, Norton, NB at a later date. The family wish to thank the staff of the Saint John Regional Hospital for the love and care given to Jim.
