Obituary of George Sharp

It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of George Robert Sharp of Lower Millstream, NB, husband of Frances (McCready) Sharp, which occurred on Monday, June 2, 2014, at the Sussex Health Centre. Born on July 8, 1926, he was a son of the late Frederick and Jean (Adams) Sharp. George is survived by his wife of 61 years, Frances; son Lee Sharp and his wife Brenda (Cunningham) of Lower Millstream, NB; daughters: Jean Denesha and her husband Douglas of Bakersfield, CA, Roberta and her husband Peter Jamieson of Halifax, NS and Sylvia and her husband Gordon Neff of Toronto, ON; grandchildren: Dana and Lily Denesha, Rae and Eden Jamieson, Ellen, Cora, Sophie and Sam Sharp, Ruby and Lee Neff; sister, Sybil Fowler; sister-in-law Ann Sharp; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, George was predeceased by his brother Arthur and sister Anna Patterson. George lived all his life in the home where he was born and where he was the 5th generation to farm the property. The Sharp family celebrated the 200th anniversary of the farm in 2010 which made George proud and grateful. George was a lifetime member and supporter of the United Church, and served on several boards including the Sussex Co-op, Sussex Area School Board, Fundy Mutual Fire Insurance, and Kirk Hill Cemetery. He was a supporter of all community endeavours and a good neighbour. He is resting at Sherwood's Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506) 839-2156, 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Pam Reidpath, will be held from Sherwood's Chapel at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014. A private family interment will take place in Kirk Hill Cemetery. Donations to the Lower Millstream United Church, Canadian Cancer Society or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
