Obituary of Glen Colpitts

It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Glen Leland Colpitts, age 84, husband of Ruth (Henderson) Colpitts of Norton, NB, on Friday, February 21, 2014. He was born on September 26, 1929, in Parleeville, NB, the son of the late Fred and Beatrice (Atkinson) Colpitts. He is survived by his wife Ruth; sons Lee and Sally Colpitts of Norton, Ralph and Karen Colpitts of Sussex; daughter Bonny and Bryant Tabor of Norton; Grandchildren Ben (Keira), Dominick (Erin), Darcie (Mitchell), Denise (Christa), Michael (Brittany), Samantha and Trevor; great grandsons Micah, Eli, Austin and Blake; sister-in-law Marie Henderson; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his half-sister Verta Kane. Glen spent his early years farming in Parleeville, milking his Jerseys, cutting wood and working the fields. In the 1970’s he moved to work at Saint John Shipbuilding where he remained until he retired in 1994. From that time on he spent his days with his loving wife, being a great father, grandfather and neighbour to all. His door was always open for someone in need. Arrangements entrusted to Sherwood's Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre, 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, E5T 1Z2, with visiting on Monday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel at 11:00 am., on Tuesday, February 25, 2014. Interment will take place later in Riverbank Cemetery. Donations in Glen’s memory may be made to the Sussex Health Centre Foundation, or the memorial of the donor’s choice.
