Obituary of Mark Duffley

The death of Mark George Duffley, age 55, of Kiersteadville, NB, husband of Lynn Ann (Jennings) Duffley occurred on October 3, 2013. Mark was born in Saint John on April 23, 1958, the son of George and Rita (Buckley) Duffley. Mark is survived by his wife, Lynn Ann; daughters, Vanessa, Mariah and Kirstin; father and mother, George and Rita Duffley of Quispamsis; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Cecil and Gloria Jennings of Grand Bay-Westfield; brothers, Alan of Quispamsis, Owen and Kelley of Fall River, NS, and Noel and Wendy of Rockland, ON; sisters, Alberta and Paul Mercer of Saint John, Julie and Bob Johnston of Sault Ste Marie, ON, and Carol Duffley of Lakeside, NS; brother-in-law, Gordon Jennings of Saint John; sister-in-law, Dianne Jennings of Grand Bay-Westfield; several nephews, nieces and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter Rachael. It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend. Mark as a young man was active in his parish as an altar boy. He was an enthusiastic football and hockey player and graduated from KVHS in 1976. Mark was also a talented bike rider and enjoyed off-road four wheeling in his Jeep. Mark completed the NBCC carpet laying course and after a few years experience, he became self-employed. In 1991, he changed professions and became a licensed electrician and joined the brotherhood of IBEW Local 502. Mark was an accomplished self-taught carpenter, painter, and plumber, there were no limits to his abilities. Mark married Lynn Ann in 1985 and started his family of four beautiful daughters, moving to the shores of Belleisle Bay in 1989. He shared his love of boating, skiing, swimming, fishing, and biking. Mark was extremely proud of his daughters and their varsity and academic achievements, evidenced by his unique voice and whistle of encouragement heard above the crowd. As a proud owner of a Harley Davidson Street Glide 2012, he was eager to take anyone willing…, on a joyous ride. He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre, (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Sunday from 2 to 5 pm. and 6 to 8 pm. A Memorial Service of Christian Burial will be held from the Belleisle Community Centre, 1648 Route 124, Springfield on Monday, October 7, 2013 at 11:00 am. A private interment will follow in Kiersteadville Cemetery. Donations to the Rachael Dawn Duffley Memorial Scholarship Fund through the Greater Saint John Community Foundation , or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
