Muriel was a youth counsellor, and pianist, at the Waterloo Baptist Church. She worked with the Red Cross’s educational program as a field co-ordinator, traveling to almost every elementary school in the province, teaching health and safety. Beginning with the 25th reunion of the Class of ’36 Nurses, she helped organize class reunions every 5 years. Muriel was awarded a number of distinctions including Life memberships from the United Baptist Women’s Missionary Society, provincial and national levels, the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae, the Clarence Emerson Foundation Award, 1977 Queen Elizabeth’s 25th Anniversary Medal, Honary Life Membership from the NB Association of Heath Care, as well as, several citations from the Red Cross. In addition to all the above activities and accomplishments, Moo has acted as clerk and pianist of the Kiersteadville United Baptist Church, and was active in Bible study classes, WMS, Sunday School and working with special care homes.
