Obituary of Lloyd Parlee

The death of Lloyd Thomas Parlee, age 87, husband of Catherine (Doherty) Parlee, of Norton, NB, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on August 19, 2013. He was born October 11, 1925, in Head of Millstream, NB, the son of the late Harry and Margaret (Miller) Parlee. Lloyd was employed with Gerald Ryan Construction and George Chittick Ltd as a bulldozer operator in the 1950’s and early 1960’s. During that time he was involved with the construction of many roads in the Millidgeville area and the highway to St. Stephen. He also did the bulldozing for the Lord Beaverbrook rink in Saint John. In August, 1965 he began work at Rothesay Paper as a woodroom panel operator. During his time there he owned a bulldozer that he worked in the barkpile. He retired from Irving Paper in December 1990. He also worked in the north at Labrador, Resolute Island, and Frobisher Bay. Lloyd was a member of the Norton Fire Department for 25 years. He was a member of the Irving Retiree’s Club and the Norton Seniors. He loved to travel and enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with his family at the camp in Millstream and the cottage on Belleisle Bay. Lloyd is survived by his wife; children: Greg and Kathy of Norton, Reg and Jill of Norton, Sherry and Ron Pitcher of Drury’s Cove and Chris and Ruth of Norton; grandchildren: Joshua (Lorena), Kelsey, Leah, Geoff (Miranda), Colby, Maxwell, Hillary, Jonathon, Madeline, Jamie and Laura; great grandchildren: Ian, Payten and Ryland; sisters-in-law Anne Parlee, Ellen Hanlon and Elizabeth Lutes; brother-in-law Mirns Tingley; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Kevin; sisters; Millie (Sam) Anderson, Eva (Murray) Wright and Leota (Hazen) Wright; brothers Hiram, Ernie and Freddie; sisters-in-law Gladys (Ernie) Parlee, Joan (Freddie) Parlee and Genny Tingley: brothers-in-law Gary Hanlon and Kenny Lutes. He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre, (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Wednesday, from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held from Sacred Heart Church, Norton, NB, at 2:00 pm on Thursday, August 22, 2013. Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
