Obituary of Vernon Belyea

With sadness, the family of Vernon Lee Belyea, age 70, husband of Corrine (Ware) Belyea, announces his passing on August 3, 2013, which occurred peacefully at his home in Sussex, NB, with his family at his side. He was born on June 19, 1943 in Saint John, NB, the son of the late Ronald and Mildred (Jones) Belyea. Vernon is survived by his wife of 50 years, Corrine; four children Samantha Belyea and her husband Mansel of Saint John, NB; Shelley Hutchinson and her husband Rodney of Colorado Springs, USA; Lee Belyea and his wife Debby of Thompson, MB; April Hatfield (Roy Hughes) of Hampton, NB; six grandchildren D’arcy Arnett and her husband Leon, Zachary Hutchinson, Emily Belyea (Kale Ganong), Ashleigh Belyea, Joshua Belyea, Cameron Belyea; sisters Edythe Laskey of Rothesay, NB, Marilyn McMahon of Guelph, ON; uncle George Belyea and his wife Doreen of Wickham, NB; aunt Muriel Belyea of Sussex, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Vernon was predeceased by his brothers-in-law Ronald Laskey and Sean McMahon. Following graduation from Nova Scotia Agricultural College in 1962, Vernon operated the family farm for twelve years. In 1975 he became a licensed embalmer and funeral director with Sherwood’s Funeral Home and dedicated 35 years to the funeral service. For many years, Vernon drove school bus for Belleisle District and was known as an all around handyman. The family will receive visitors at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Sunday, August 11, 2013, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Alden Crain, will be held from Midland Baptist Church, at 11:00 am. on Monday, August 12, 2013, followed by interment in Midland Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations in memory of Vernon may be made to the Extra Mural Program, Canadian Red Cross, Midland Cemetery or a charity of the donor’s choice.
