Obituary of Betty Arnold

Betty Roberta Arnold, wife of the late Larry Arnold, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2012, in the Surgical I.C.U. at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Minto, NB, on January 4, 1940, the daughter of the late Robert and Flossie (Spencer) Bateman. Her interests were wide bingo, crib 45’s. She made the best brown sugar fudge in Kings Country. A faithful member of Legion Branch 76 Norton. She could always be relied upon to provide her time and exemplary cooking skills for banquets and weddings. She was a true friend to many, a great mother, nurturing Grammy and fun Big Bama. Her children and grandchildren would tell you she made the best pickles and jams ever. There will be an empty chair at our family gatherings. Betty is survived by her daughter Lynn Thom and her husband Donny of Saint John, NB; son Lee Arnold and his wife Kathy of Hatfield Point, NB; grandchildren Jeremy and Lindy Thom, Jodi and Andrew Park, Gina and Jeff Matheson, Cody Arnold and Roxanne Gaudet, Shane Arnold; great grandchildren Ethan Thom, Leah Thom, Cameron Matheson; sister Claire and Raoul Duval; brother Robert and Barbara Bateman; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother John Spencer; sisters Jean Crawford and Carol Odegard. The family will receive visitors at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm, with Norton Branch # 76 holding a Legion Tribute starting at 6 pm. Funeral service, conducted by Rev. Rob Marsh, will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel, Norton, NB, at 11am, on Wednesday, November 7, 2012, followed by interment at Bayview Cemetery. Donations to the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated. Personal condolences to the family may be made through www.sherwoodsfuneralhome.com
