Obituary of Hughie Hoar
Mr. Hughie Leonard Hoar, age 78, of Southfield, NB, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre, on Sunday, July 8, 2012. He was born on December 20, 1933. He was the son of the late Leonard and Greta (Geldart) Hoar of Dobson Corner, Salisbury. Hughie was predeceased by his loving wife Ella Winnifred Hoar (Crossman) who passed away in 2006.
Hughie was an amazing man and loved his family and he also enjoyed hunting & day trips. He lost the love of his life 6 years ago and now they are both resting in heaven peacefully.
Hughie worked at the Cheese Factory in Elgin in his younger days and then moved to Saint John, NB, where he worked for IBEW Union and Irving Pulp and Paper as stationary engineer for 33 years before retiring, then resided in Southfield, NB, to enjoy his retirement.
Hughie will be sadly missed by his family; one son; Wayne Hoar (Cindy) of Norton; three daughters; Sharon Tayes (Danny) of Saint John; Carol Tobin (Thomas) Norton; Donna Hoar (Darin), of Saint John and his 13 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, and his companion for the past 5 years Valerie Sommerville; brother Frank Hoar (Kay); sisters Eleanor McNeil (Tom) and Jennie Sleeper, all of Salisbury. He was predeceased by brothers; Allison & Robert.
He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visitation on Tuesday, July 10, 2012, from 6 to 8 pm. Following cremation, a Celebration Service of Hughie’s life, conducted by Rev. Dan Austin, will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel at 11:00 am, on Thursday, July 12, 2012, followed by a private family interment in Riverbank Cemetery.
