Obituary of Wilmot Long

The death of Wilmot Chesley Long, age 87, husband of the late Barbara (Craft) Long, of Belleisle Creek, NB, occurred at the Belleisle Creek Manor, NB, on Sunday, May 20, 2012. He was born on August 14, 1924, in Belleisle Creek, NB, the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Knollin) Long. Wilmot was a lifelong resident of Belleisle Creek. He worked picking tobacco, as a woods worker, a general laborer and helped deliver the mail. He always liked to be busy. In his spare time and in retirement, he enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, playing cards and hunting. Wilmot is survived by his son Bob Long and his wife Linda of Canning, NS; daughters Marlene Price and her husband Don of Gagetown, NB, Marie Long of Penobsquis, NB, Carol Somerville and her husband John of Springfield, NB; grandchildren Dan, Zack, Samantha, Emily, Matthew, Morgen, Alexa; sisters Evelyn Urquhart of Kars, NB, Laura Peck of Sussex, NB; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his son Stephen Long, infant daughter Joanne, brother Carl and sister Pearl Raymond. He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visitation from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 PM, on Tuesday, May 22, 2012. Funeral service, conducted by Pastor Fred Wickett, will be held at Sherwood’s Chapel at 11:00 AM, on Wednesday, May 23, 2012. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, Belleisle Creek, NB.
