Obituary of Burton Crealock
After a full life well-lived, John Burton Crealock, age 91, died peacefully at the Ridgewood Veteran’s Hospital, Saint John, NB on March 23, 2012. He was the husband of the late Mabel (Holder) Crealock. Burton was born in Pearsonville, NB, on August 1, 1920, the son of the late William and Ada (Northrup) Crealock.
Burton was the last surviving member of his immediate family and a lifelong resident of Pearsonville. He was a World War II veteran having served overseas in England and the Northwest Europe Arena in the Casualty Clearing Unit for the 21st General Hospital and was a volunteer to serve in the Far East before the War ended. He devoted his working life to farming and he took great pride in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and welcomed many young family members to enjoy Summer days on the farm. He had a brilliant mathematical mind and was at one time a tax collector for Kings County. Burt was a lifetime member of the Woodland United Church, member of the Norton Legion Branch # 76, where he served in many capacities including President. He was also a tireless worker for the Conservative Party.
Burton will be sadly and deeply missed by his long time partner, Barbara Pearson; son Jack and Pauline Crealock of Pearsonville, NB; daughters Gail Morris (Sandy Rutledge) of Halifax, NS, Janet and Brian Guthrie of Glassville, NB; grandchildren Troy, Trent (Catharine), Blain (Carey), Angelia, Jonathan (Cheryl), Matthew, Michelle (Jean), Terri, Bill (Janelle), Adam (Joanne); great grandchildren William, Heather, Alexandra, Claire, Gillian, Judith, Rebecca, Finley, Quinn, Liam, Olivia, Benjamin, Gweneth, Juliet; Barbara’s children Glenna Brodhagen and Crailey Gillies and her granddaughter Kristina Brodhagen; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his infant son Gary; sisters Margaret Ward, Helen Crothers, Jessie Howe; brothers Harold, Otis; step brother Howard Fenwick.
The family will receive visitors at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Monday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration Service of Burton’s life, conducted by Rev. Linda Fuller, will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel, at 11:00 am, on Tuesday, March 27, 2012. Interment will take place later in Woodland United Cemetery.
