Obituary of Dorothy Dale

After a brief illness, the death of Dorothy Irene (Machum) Dale, age 69 , wife of the late Kenneth E. Dale, of Queenstown, NB, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB, on February 3, 2012. She was born on April 15, 1942, in Saint John, the daughter of the late Walter and Elva (Hamilton) Machum. Dorothy graduated from Saint John Vocational School. She had worked at the Royal Bank in Saint John. She enjoyed working at the Steamers Stop Inn in Gagetown. She was a lifelong member of W.I., which included being the longest serving President, and was Treasurer at Queenstown Baptist Church. At home she was a wonderful hostess, enjoyed working outdoors in her flower beds and doing her trimming. When May came, she could always be found at any racetrack from Geary, NB, to Antigonish, NS, during racing season. She enjoyed being active in her community which would include her involvement in local politics, 4-H Club and many sports. Dorothy is survived by daughters Kimberley and Rick Norwood of Jemseg, and Kelly and Shawn Coolen of Halifax; sons Dwane and Veronica of Halifax, and Darren and Tabatha of Halifax; grandchildren Devon, Jeremy, Taylor, Joshua, Matthew, Zachery and Benjamin; sister-in-law Vivian Smith; brothers-in-law Lloyd and Glendon Dale; several cousins. She is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Monday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service conducted by Rev. Bob Johnson, assisted by Rev. Dan Walton will be held at 11:00 am., Tuesday, February 7, 2012, from the Queenstown Baptist Church, Queenstown, NB. Family and friends are invited to a reception at the Queenstown LOL Hall following the service. Interment will take place in Central Hampstead Cemetery in the spring.
