Obituary of Jean Nancekivell

The death of Violet Jean Nancekivell, age 68, wife of Donald Nancekivell of Hatfield Point, NB, occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Sunday, August 7, 2011. She was born on May 30, 1943, the daughter of the late Clarence and Elsie (Crane) Connor. Jean was a devoted, loving, and caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. Jean enjoyed spending time with her family and friends enjoying life. She could often be found working in the yard planting flowers, mowing the lawn, or enjoying the wildlife. She knew how to shop for a bargain and could beat anyone at a game of yahtzee. She enjoyed travelling and boating. Jean was known to help others and donated to several charities; The Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetes Foundation and Local Food Banks. Jean will be dearly missed by all. Jean is survived by her husband of 47 years, Don; daughter Brenda and Carl Lawson of Wickham, NB; sons Steven and Michelle Nancekivell of Fredericton, NB, David Nancekivell of Kars, NB; daughter-in-law Sherry Nancekivell of Lower Kars, NB; grandchildren Kyle, Bradley, Samantha, Ashley, Katelyn, Patricia, Brandy, Brody; sisters Verna Miracle, Lillian and Jim Fisher; brothers David and Barb Connor, Lorne Connor, Stanley Connor; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Edward. The family will receive visitors at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Wednesday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Jean’s life, conducted by Pastor Greg Loosley, will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. from Sherwood’s Chapel. Personal condolences to the family may be made through www.sherwoodsfuneralhome.com Meet You at the Gate A beautiful garden now stands alone, missing the one who nurtured it But now she is gone, Her flowers still bloom, and the sun it still shines, But the rain is like tear drops, for the ones left behind, The weeds lay waiting to take the gardens beauty away, But the beautiful memories of its keeper are in our hearts to stay, she loved every flower even some that were weeds, So much love she would plant with each little seed, But just like her flowers she was part of Gods plan, So when it was her time he reached down his hand, He looked through the Garden searching for the best, That's when he found Jean, it was her time to rest, It was hard for those who loved her, to just let her go, But God had a spot in his garden, that needed a gentle soul, So when you start missing Jean, remember if you just wait, When God has a spot in his garden, She'll meet you at the gate.... ~Written by Barbara Bailey
