Obituary of Bob Sutton

The death of Robert William Sutton, age 77, husband of Evelyn (Sutton) (Makepeace) Sutton of Queenstown, NB, occurred suddenly at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital, Fredericton, NB, on Thursday, June 16, 2011. He was born on September 7, 1933, in Summer Hill, NB, the son of the late Bentley & Ruby (Scott) Sutton. He moved to Queenstown in 1955 and married Amy Hasson. They had four children Wendy, Bruce, Michael and Eric. Amy died in 1987. Bob worked for CFB Gagetown for 35 years, retiring in 1988. He married Evelyn Makepeace and took on four more children. With all the children grown up, Bob liked to travel, crossing Canada several times, he saw all the provinces. Bob enjoyed playing cards and cribbage. He was a member of the LOL #112, the Royal Black Chapter and St. Stephen’s Anglican Church. He loved his family, gardening, car races and dancing. He was a handyman and jack of all trades, who loved helping anyone in need. Bob is survived by his wife of 23 years, Evelyn; sons Bruce and Linda Sutton of Georgetown, ON, Michael & Jacqueline Sutton of Moncton, NB; son Eric and Rose Marie Sutton of Maple Ridge, BC; son-in-law Mark Garnett of Hatfield Point, NB; stepsons; Michael & Elaine Makepeace of Gagetown, NB, Patrick & Grace Makepeace of Hampstead, NB; stepdaughters Beverley & Doug Harmon of Gagetown, NB, Kimberley & Randy Marr of Queenstown, NB; grandchildren; Jennifer, Shawn, Adam, Stephanie, Sara, Tanaska, Kaleb, Kiara, Mahaila, Andrea, Amy, Kyle, Morgan, Erin, Burke, Maddie, Jason, and Haley ; great grandchildren; Ryan, Jake, Tom and Ian; brothers George & Lorraine Sutton of Hampton, NB, Daryl & Irene Sutton of Saint John, NB; sister Marilyn Sutton of Saint John, NB; brother-in-law Bill & Carol Sutton of Westfield; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Bob was predeceased by his first wife Amy; daughter Wendy Garnett; sister Shirley and brother-in-law Tony Balaban He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Monday from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. A L.O.L. tribute will be held at the funeral home at 6:30 p.m. A celebration of Bob’s life, conducted by The Rev. Lisa Pacarynuk, will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., from St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, Queenstown, NB. A private family interment will follow in Ocean View Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Donations in memory of Bob, may be made to the L.O.L. Hall #112 or the memorial of the donor’s choice.
