Obituary of Shirley Howes

The death of Shirley Arthur Howes, age 95, husband of the late of Marjorie (Moss) Howes, of Cambridge-Narrows, NB, occurred at the Great Oaks Special Care Home, McDonald’s Point, NB, on May 13, 2011. He was born on August 28, 1915, in Cambridge-Narrows, NB, the son of the late Elijah & Orilla (Chase) Howes. Shirley's special things were working in the woods and having hot fires with temperatures reaching 110 degrees. He was very passionate towards his tractor which he liked putting in the ditch or when stuck in the brook. He loved his truck, driving to Joey's for a visit or to get it fixed. His other passion was his blue car "Tory Blue". He had enjoyed playing cards and going to card parties every week. His special love was his great grandson Kyle, whom he cherished and he always called him "My Man". Shirley is survived by his daughters Frances Robinson of Cambridge-Narrows, NB, Sandra Kraglund of Saint John, NB, Carol Howes and Bill Cooper of Wickham, NB; daughter-in-law Daphne Howes of Saint John, NB; grandchildren Karl & Melissa Robinson, Kevin Robinson, Karen & Alan Wood, Andy Robinson, Ferne Kraglund & James Gray, Jennifer & Marcus Cormier, and Timmy Howes; great grandchildren Lauren, Angela, Kyle, Allison, Megan, Nathan, Josh, Brooklyn; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Wayne and brother Frank. He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre, (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, with visiting on Tuesday from 5 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Shirley’s life, conducted by Pastor Reginald Ferris, will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18, 2011. Donations in memory of Shirley, may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
