Obituary of Andy Turnbull

The death of Andrew Turnbull, age 91, husband of the late Doris (Brown) Turnbull of Cambridge-Narrows NB, occurred at the Oromocto Regional Hospital, on Wednesday, May 11, 2011. He was born on April 18, 1920, in Little Lour, Angus, Scotland, the son of the late David and Catherine (Aitken-Duthie) Turnbull. Andy served in the Canadian Navy and was a World War II veteran. He was a recipent of the Queens Jubilee Medal. a Veterans Affairs Commendation and was a nominee for the Order of New Brunswick. He was a cabinet maker by trade, a teacher by profession and a consultant to industry. Andy was a member of the Canadian Legion, a life member of Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons 1946 Worshipful Master 1962, Scottish Rite 32; 1971 Valley of Saint John. Mystic Shrine Luxor Temple, Maple Leaf of Luxor Shrine Club and Maple Leaf of Luxor Unit, Order of Eastern Star Fundy Chapter #34, Narrows United Church of Canada and the Washademoak Seniors. Andy is survived by nieces Kathryn Chapman of Minto and Roberta and Ben Armstrong of Saint John; nephew Bernie and Judy Tissington of Quispamsis and several other nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his sisters Jean Baskin and Lorna Corcoran. The family will receive visitors at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. A Celebration of Andy’s life, conducted by Rev. Jane Johnson, will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at 11:00 a.m., from Narrows United Church, Cambridge-Narrows, NB. Interment will follow later in the adjoining cemetery Donations in memory of Andy may be made to the memorial of the donor’s choice.
