Obituary of Pearl Raymond

The death of Pearl Margaret Raymond, age 89, wife of the late Robert Raymond, of Norton, NB, occurred at the Sussex Health Centre, Sussex, NB, on May 7, 2011. She was born at Belleisle Creek, NB, on April 24, 1922, the daughter of the late Henry and Margaret (Knollin) Long. Pearl attended Belleisle Creek School and after finishing Grade 8, she worked for two different families, doing general housework for a few years. On September 17, 1940, she married her beloved companion, Robert Raymond. After almost 70 years of marriage, Robert passed away on January 8, 2010. Pearl was a very dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a hard worker all her life. During her married life she not only looked after her own home and family meticulously, but she had hired help and boarders throughout the years on the farm. She also worked outside the home at the Municipal Home in Norton and at the Motel and cabins across the road. For nearly 25 years she ran a Special Care Home and finally retired from that at the age of 75. Besides all of this she still had time to make lots of cookies for her grandchildren’s frequent visits. Pearl loved to travel and had many trips across Canada, U.S., Israel, Europe and Great Britain. She was a dedicated member of Outreach Pentecostal Church, Hatfield Point, NB for many years. Pearl loved God, her family, and friends. She really loved life and showed it with her warm, caring and loving personality. She was an excellent hostess, and everyone felt so welcome in her home. She always put others ahead of herself. The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Sussex Health Center for their wonderful care and support.
