Obituary of Carl Veitenheimer

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Carl John Veitenheimer of Belleisle Creek, in his 80th year, Sunday, February 27th, at the Sussex Health Center after a period of failing health. Beloved husband of Eileen (Connaire) Veitenheimer and cherished father of Louise (Veitenheimer) Ravn. Loving grandfather to Liam and Katie Ravn. He also leaves behind a much loved sister, Shirley Winter, London, ON and brother, Frank Veitenheimer, Moncton, NB. Predeceased by precious baby daughter Donna, brother Clayton and sister Helen, as well as parents Frank and Mae (McKinnon) Veitenheimer. Born on June 11th, 1930 in Durham Ontario, Dad set off to work after learning a trade and was a proud 55 year member of Union #46 Toronto - United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry of the United States and Canada. During his career as welder and pipefitter he had the opportunity to travel the world to such places as Israel, South Africa, UK and Libya, as well as all over North America, making many lifelong friends along the way. Always full of good humor and a need to tease, Dad loved a good joke, was an avid reader and movie buff and nothing made him happier, in healthier days, than to be out in the yard puttering around or playing with his grandkids. Dad will always be remembered for his generosity and willingness to lend a hand, no one went without in his presence. We were very blessed to have him and our loss is great but Heaven has gained an angel to watch over us. We will hold him in our hearts until the end of our days, when we meet again. The family will receive visitors at Sherwood's Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Friday, March 4, 2011, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. A private family service and interment will take place at a later date. Memorial donations to Extra Mural Foundation or donor's choice would be appreciated. Condolences to the family may be made through www.sherwoodsfuneralhome.com
