Obituary of Mary McNair

The death of Mary K. McNair (Price), age 83, wife of Harvey McNair of Sussex, NB, occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on June 13, 2010. She was born at Ludlow, NB, on March 10, 1927, the daughter of the late Clyde and Katherine (Long) Price. Mary was an excellent student in her growing up years. She attended Emmanuel Bible School graduating in 1947. Following graduation she came to Sussex to work with Rev. & Mrs. James Burns, pastor of the Pentecostal Church. She ministered in various places until 1950 when she became the beloved bride of Rev. Harvey McNair, beginning her long career as a minister’s wife. The pastorates were in New Brunswick, Maine and Nova Scotia. Mary was a people person, a wonderful pastor’s wife and Sunday School teacher. She excelled at homemaking, entertaining many missionaries and visiting ministers through the years. Mary was a devoted mother to Stephen, Jonathan and David. She enjoyed having her grandsons Andrew, Matthew and Nathaniel visit. The great grandsons (Andrews boys) Nolan and Parker were the joy of her last years in Sussex. A praying lady with a heart for God and a love for people, she will be greatly missed. The family is so thankful for the years with her. Her husband's heart has safely trusted in her these many years. They would have been married 60 years on September 20, 2010. Mary is survived by her husband of 59 years, Harvey McNair of Sussex, NB; sons Jonathan and Denise McNair of Blackville, NB, David and Carol McNair of Saint John, NB; grandsons Andrew and Alisa, Matthew and Naomi, Nathaniel; great grandsons Nolan and Parker; sister Olive and Stephen Ashfield of Fredericton, NB; sisters-in-law Marjorie Price of Chipman, NB, Darlene Price of Frederiction, NB; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by son Stephen; brothers Elwood Price and Alvin Price. She is resting at Abundant Life Church, 489 Main Street, Sussex, NB, with visitation on Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral will be held from Abundant Life Church on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at 2:00 p.m. Private family interment will follow in Riverbank Cemetery. Donations to Northeast Christian College or the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
