Obituary of Mabel Baxter

It is with great sadness that the family of Mabel Marguerite Baxter, age 93, of Collina, NB, announces her death which occurred on Sunday, December 8, 2019, at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Snider Mountain, NB, on April 22, 1926, she was the daughter of the late A. Roy and Vera (Simpson ) Long. Mabel is survived by her daughter Lois Trevena (Darryl) of Collina, NB; son Bev Baxter (Brenda) of Alberta; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; one step great grandchild; siblings: Edith Attoe, Doris Nelson, Glenna (Jim) Simpson, Joan (Al) Acott, Clara (Aubrey) McLeod, Donnie Long and Ashley Long; daughters-in-law: Darlene Baxter, Joyce Baxter and Sandra Baxter; sisters-in-law: Marvel Tribe and Margaret Long; brother-in-law Murray Steen; as well as many nieces and nephews and her feline companion Molly. In addition to her parents, Mabel was predeceased by her loving husband George A. Baxter; sons: Carl, Russell and Arthur Baxter; granddaughter Kimberly Friars; brothers: Hartley and Lloyd Long; and sisters: Viola McAllister and Evelyn Steen. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre, (839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, where visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 2:00 pm from Collina Baptist Church, Collina, NB. Donations in memory of Mabel may be made to the Upper Springfield Cemetery, Paws & Whiskers, Carma or to the memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
