Obituary of Jimmy Smith
It is with great sadness that the family of Ronald James "Jimmy" Smith, age 95, husband of the late Margaret (Taylor) Smith, formerly of Wickham, NB, announces the passing of their dear father which occurred on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Hastings, England, on November 6, 1923, he was the son of the late Frederick and Winnifred (Smith) Smith. Jimmy was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Jimmy had a passion for nature and loved being outdoors. He could often be found working with his Christmas trees or in his garden; even this year he enjoyed planting and tending to his beloved tomato plants. He loved and cherished his family and church family and enjoyed singing and playing the harmonica anytime he could. He will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his daughter Gloria Campbell of Carter’s Point, NB; son Michael and Pamella Smith of Cody’s, NB; grandchildren Scott Crain, Julie Smith (John) and Gregory (Amy) Smith; great grandchildren; Rose, Kelson and Taylar; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife, Jimmy was predeceased by his brothers: Arthur and Albert; and sisters: Florence, Joyce and Gladys.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Boulier’s Homecare and to the doctors and nursing staff of the Sussex Health Centre. Your kindness and compassion shown towards Jimmy will not be forgotten.
He is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre, (839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, with visitation on Friday from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. The funeral service will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 27, 2019. Interment will take place in Midland Cemetery.
