Obituary of Evelyn Folkins
Evelyn Mae (Pearson) Folkins passed away, June 14, 2019, surrounded by her loving family at the Sussex Health Centre. She was the wife of the late Thomas Folkins of Searsville, NB. Evelyn was born in Elm Brook. NB on March 1, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Richard and Susie (Reicker) Pearson.
Our Mom – active, full of life, sharp as a tack up to the end. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She has done a wide variety of things over her 92 years from raising her children, caring for aging family, being a farmer’s wife, making and decorating a wide variety of cakes for all occasions, and upholstering furniture. She was an avid reader, knitter, a local family and history buff.
Mom loved being involved in the lives of her grandchildren and more recently her great-grandchildren. She worked for many years at Belleisle Gardens and Cowtown Market, well up into her eighties. She still spent Friday mornings at Pearson’s Corner Market working in a "light-duty capacity".
Evelyn attended St. Simon and St. Jude’s Anglican Church in Belleisle and was a member of her childhood church, Trinity Anglican in Springfield until its closing. She also enjoyed attending Kings Kirk United Church. She was member of the Belleisle A.C.W. and U.C.W., a member of the Kings County Historical Society and, as of last week, had accepted the re-election as the treasurer of the Orange Cemetery in Kars. This winter and spring she had enjoyed the walking group at the Hatfield Point Baptist Church, She was excited to do her 30 laps around the gym with her walker. This past year she completed many, many beautiful jigsaw puzzles with the help of her home-makers.
We shall miss you Mom
