Obituary of Murray Spragg

It is with great sadness that the family of Murray Kitchener Spragg, age 104, announces his passing which occurred on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at his home in Kiersteadville, NB. Born in the Grant, NB, on September 21, 1914, he was the son of the late Paul and Lena (Sharpe) Spragg. The family moved to Kiersteadville where he worked hard at farming all his life. He had a great love for the land and his animals. He was very generous and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. In later years, he enjoyed the newspaper, the wonder word, books of any kind but especially Louis L’amour Westerns, and many jigsaw puzzles. He leaves to mourn, his three daughters: Ruth Patterson of Hampton, NB, Shirley Prescott and her husband Jim of Kiersteadville, NB, and Joyce McLeod and her husband David of Saint John, NB; six grandchildren: Darren Prescott (Traci Shannon), Jonathan (Jennifer) Prescott, Lisa Patterson (Gary Howard), Andrew Patterson (Wendy Short), Kathy McLeod (Kevin Loughery) and Christopher McLeod (Jodi Butler); ten great grandchildren: Jesse, Justin and Joshua Prescott, Benjamin and Stephanie Paulin, Regan Howard, Kady and Karly Loughery and James and Jackson McLeod; sister-in-law, Laura Bonney; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Murray was predeceased by his loving wife, Vera M. Law in 2000; sisters: Bernice Ramsey and Edith Gray; and son-in-law Walter Patterson. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, where visitation will be held from 6 to 8pm on Thursday, January 3, and from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8pm on Friday, January 4. The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 11:00am from Bates Barn, 918 Route 850, Long Point, NB. Interment will take place in the spring at Kiersteadville Cemetery.
