Obituary of Marion Darrach

It is with sadness that the family of Marion Lois Darrach, age 95, of Norton, NB, wife of the late Lloyd Darrach, announces her death which occurred on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. She was born on August 28, 1923, in Stanley Bridge, PE, a daughter of the late Frank and Annie (Murray) Bell. Marion was a wonderful loving Mom, Grammy and Nanny. Family get togethers were highlights in her life. She always treated family, friends, coworkers and students with kindness and compassion. Marion’s church and faith provided her with peace and contentment. Marion spent her early 20’s teaching in one room schools in PEI. In 1970 she returned to teaching as well as being a UNB student. At age 56 in 1979 she achieved her Bachelor of Teaching from UNB. In 1984 Marion received the first NBTA Special Educators Bicentennial Award for her contributions in Special Education. Most notably she worked with both students and the business community to integrate these special youths into the workforce. This was a program that was significant to both the students and workplace. Marion and Lloyd both enjoyed retirement years shared with friends and family during winters in Florida. Marion is survived by children: Trudy (Peter) Steele of Norton, NB, Blaine Darrach of Cambridge Narrows, NB, Barbara (John) Wolfe of North Vancouver, BC; grandchildren Rebecca Steele (Chris Herring) of Calgary, AB, Jessica (Jon) Olthuis of Calgary, AB, Jennifer (Bob) Betts of Fredericton, NB, Kari (Dwight) Stairs of Durham Bridge, NB, Samantha Wolfe of Vancouver, BC, Alexandra Wolfe of Vancouver, BC, Jonathan Wolfe of Vancouver, BC; great-grandchildren Victoria, Aemelia, Josie, Emma, Olivia, Brooke, Rowan; as well as several nieces and nephews.
