It is with profound sadness that the family of Richard Frank Bates, age 65, announces his passing which occurred on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 in London, Ontario. Born in Sussex, NB on March 20, 1953, he was a son of the late Frank & Jean (Ganong) Bates Richard is survived by his partner Cindy McQuiggan; son Chris and Cindy Bates of Kingston, NB; stepson Adam O’Blenis; stepdaughters Amanda, Sarah, and Stephanie O’Blenis; grandson Hudson; stepgrandchildren Denver and Nathaniel; sisters Linda and Bill Pollock of Alberta, Leah and Dale Urquhart of Erb’s Cove, NB, Ann Ukrainetz of SK, Joan and Roy Olive of Hampton, NB; brothers Donald Bates (Pierrette Ricard) of Nova Scotia, Bob and Janice Bates of Keirsteadville, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother-in-law Paul Ukrainetz. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, where visitation will be held 3 to 5pm and 6 to 8pm on Monday, May 14, 2018. A private family funeral service will be held at Keirsteadville Baptist Church. Donations in memory of Richard may be made to the Donor’s Choice.
