It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the children announce the passing of their cherished mother, Doris Margaret (Thomas) Beers, of Wickham, NB, at the age of 94 which occurred at the Shannex Nursing Home on Thursday, November 16, 2017. Doris was the youngest daughter of 8 children of the late James and Mary Ann (Williams) Thomas formerly of Kars, NB. Doris was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Our Mum immigrated to Canada with her family from Wales, UK to New Brunswick where her family settled on a farm in Kars, NB in 1928 She moved to Saint John where she worked as a waitress at the Royal Hotel (where Brunswick Square is now located) where she met her husband Eldred and moved to Wickham, NB in 1947 where they raised their 4 children. Our Mum was a very dedicated and a hard working lady who loved to cook and bake, she amazed her children with the amount she could cook in a day. Doris is survived by daughters Linda (Craig) Parker of Grand Bay-Westfield, Lois (Mike) Gillespie of Saint John; son Donald (Danita) of Rothesay; grandchildren Tracy Parker (Patrick), Sheri Parker-Brown (Rodney), David Parker (Kelly), Melody Mercer (Joel), Lindsay Lee (Kyunsoo), Matthew Beers (Kristen), Alex Beers; great-grandchildren Katelyn Parker, Ava Brown, Mason Brown, Lila Parker, Lexie Beers, Carson Beers and Thomas Mercer; great-great granddaughter Violet Pollock; special granddaughter Lynne (Dave) Spolding and family of England; sister-in-laws Marilyn MacDonald, Mildred Beaumont and Theresa Beers; also many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her husband Eldred of 70 years, she was predeceased by her daughter Joan Kinnear; son–in-law Milton Kinnear; her sister Elizabeth (Betty) Thomas and brothers Norman, Gordon, Sydney, Leslie, Clifford and Albert. Doris was a very special Wife, Mother, Grammie, Aunt, Sister and Friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
