Obituary of Richard Alcorn
It is with sadness that the family of Richard Ernest Alcorn, husband of Wendy (MacNeill) Alcorn, of Norton, NB, announce his death, which occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on October 22, 2017. He was born on March 23, 1951 in Sussex, the son of the late Ernest and Elva (Robinson) Alcorn.
Richard is survived by his wife Wendy; son Rick and daughter Lisa Alcorn both of Norton; sister-in-law Kathy (Brent) Rice of Sussex Corner; brother-in-law Ernest Raven of Norton; special sister Starr; nephew Jason (Jen) Swetnam; nieces Kate (Ryan) Golden and Jenn (Gerry) Vandersluys; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his son Michael; grandson Mark; sister Sharon.
Richard started at carpentry work in 1971 for Shamrock Construction (Saint John) as an apprentice and became licensed in 1975. He continued in this field and worked for Bonney Construction for 14 years and then he started his own business Alcorn Construction. His specialty was the detail work in any cabinetry projects. One of his best works was Wendys roll top desk - her pride and joy. Richard was an avid hunter and moose season was his favorite. "Big Shows" meals were talked about for days.
He loved his family and his dogs with great passion.
The family will receive visitors at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, on Thursday, October 26, 2017, from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral service will be held from Sherwood’s Chapel on Friday at 11:00 am.
