Obituary of Helen Graham
At the age of 99 years, Helen Audrey Graham (Stewart) of Belleisle Creek, NB, passed away peacefully at the Sussex Health Centre on Friday, February 10, 2017 following a short period of failing health. Born in Reed’s Point, NB on July 29, 1917, Helen was the daughterof Jessie (Lamb) and Gordon Stewart. In 1945, Helen married George Thomas Graham and together they celebrated 53 years of marriage on their farm on Bullmoose Hill until his passing in 1998.
Helen led an active life. During her younger years, Helen was a swimmer, skater and cross country skier. A great lover of flowers, Helen possessed a remarkable green thumb and spent many hours tending both her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed travelling, spending summers camping and travelling with George and, in her later years, taking bus and train trips to various spots in Canada and the United States. She equally loved cooking and in particular pickling. One of Helen’s greatest passions was photography. Upon receiving her first camera at the age of 12 years, Helen began a life time of taking photographs, documenting both special family events and day to day life. But as much as Helen loved taking pictures, she equally loved seeing photographs other people took, and enjoying the stories the pictures told.
Helen is survived by her children Cortland and Susan Graham, Carl and Sharon Graham, Audrey and David Totton, and Darrel and Deborah Graham; 10 grandchildren Trevor (Shannon) and Jamie (Sue), Paula (David), Talmage (Natasha), Michael (Crystal) and Robyn, Heather (Rahul), Joyce (Mark) and Karen, and Stuart (Elizabeth); 12 great grandchildren Katrina, Laurissa (Anders), Sarah and Reyna, Nicholas, Danni, and Dakota, Maya, Corlee, Tressa and Odette, and Olive; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
