It is with sadness that the family of Peggy (Raw) Boyd, age 94, of Belleisle Creek, NB, announces her death which occurred peacefully at her home on January 5, 2017. Born in Redcar, England on March 6, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Ellen (Hogarth) Raw. Peggy is survived by her children: Richard Boyd (Glenna) of Norton, NB, Linda Watson of Springfield, Chris Sprague (Martin Neynens) of Dartmouth, NS, Harris Boyd (Marie) of Ottawa, ON, Staicy Boyd (Bruce Gunter) of Grand Lake, NB and Andrew Boyd (Cindy) of Belleisle Creek, NB, grandchildren: Shannon and Shaun Boyd, Jason and Janelle Watson and Tanya Clark, Scott and Cory Sprague, Geoffrey and Timothy Boyd, Augustine (Gus) Hourihan, Ashley Boyd, Jodi, Kory and Kaylee Raymond and many great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Peggy was predeceased by her husband Charles W. Boyd, grand-daughter Michelle Watson, twin brother Douglas Raw and brother Gordon Raw, both of England. Peggy was a Warbride and she and her infant son Richard, came to Canada in 1946. She had served as a welder in England during WWII, a skill which she later taught to her husband Charles. Peggy’s father was the editor of their local town paper in England. Her parents were quite in awe of how she adapted to farm life on a dirt road, where the home had no hydro, no running water or bathroom. She was a very private person who immersed herself in the lives of her family. She was extremely well read, and was the "go to" person for many questions. She loved hearing the stories of her children and their families and always kept her camera close at hand. On visiting, one could always expect a huge hug as a welcome and as a goodbye. Peggy put great emphasis on a good education along with a strong work ethic. She was a woman who could invent anything when the need arose and kept her tool box just out in the porch to make any necessary repairs. She took great pride in the condition and appearance of her home both inside and out. She loved gardening and being outdoors immensely and visitors were sure to be offered the "garden walk about". This fall, Peggy put her gardens to bed for the last time all on her own. The gardens around her home are a testament to her love and talent of growing and nurturing. Her 1978 Dodge Monaco was her special girl and has been kept in immaculate condition and protected from the weather to this very day. A truly beautiful, classy lady, one who will be so greatly missed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. As per Peggy’s request there will no visitation or funeral service. A small family celebration of her life will take place when the grass is green and the flowers are in bloom.
