Obituary of Marie Perry
It is with sadness that the family announces the death of Marie Frances Perry, age 73, wife of the late Ronald Perry, of Lower Cambridge, NB, which occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital, Fredericton, NB, on Sunday, October 2, 2016. She was born on February 28, 1943, in Cambridge, NB, the daughter of the late Gerald and Ethel (Black) Smith.
Marie was the only child of the late Gerald & Ethel Smith. During her early childhood there were four generations living in the same farmhouse.
After graduating business college in Fredricton Marie worked at the Registry Office in the village of Gagetown. On Nov. 4, 1967 she married Ronnie Perry. In 1971, when their daughter Dawn was born, Marie began the adventure of being a stay-at-home Mom.
During the Perry family’s time on Colwell Farm Marie assisted Ronnie with lots of gardening and also canning the harvests for winter. She enjoyed her flower gardens, rose & lilac bushes. She was often cooking & baking for family, friends & the "hay crew". Her fall tradition of homemade doughnuts was always a special fondness with the crowd of duck hunters. She continued her gardening & baking after the family moved to their first new home in 1991.
Marie enjoyed many handy-crafts, especially quilting. As her eyesight began to falter she made several baby quilts to have on hand for gifts for when her younger family members would welcome their first children. She sang with Strings Alive. In more recent years she rekindled a keen interest in genealogy. The last several years she worked on a "short" history of Lower Cambridge, which she hoped to pass along to family & friends. She was a member of the First Cambridge Baptist Church.
Marie is survived by her daughter Dawn Perry of Lower Cambridge, NB; brothers-in-law Robert Perry and his wife Almeda of Saint John, NB, Chuck Thorne and his wife Irene of Keirstead Mountain, NB; sister-in-law Shirley Doucette and her husband Gilbert of Sussex, NB; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law Faye Frits and her brother-in-law Stan Frits.
She is resting at Sherwood’s Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre, (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton with visiting on Tuesday, October 11, 2016 from 3 to 5 and 6 to 8 pm. Funeral Service will be held from Sherwood’s Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. A private family interment will take place in the First Cambridge Baptist Cemetery, MacDonald’s Corner, NB.
