Obituary of Garnie Boyd
Surrounded by his family, Garnet "Garnie" Bruce Boyd, of Hatfield Point, age 76, husband of Paulette (Ganong) Boyd, passed away, at the Sussex Health Center on February 4, 2016. Garnie was born in Hatfield Point, NB, on May 21, 1939, the son of the late Everett and Elsie Boyd and lived a full life. He was known for working in many capacities in the community, the Baptist church, and supporting friends and neighbours.
Garnet Boyd was a poultry farmer for Canada Packers, a school bus driver for former District 6, an entrepreneur, a Baptist Deacon, a member of the Bayview Cemetery Committee, the Hatfield Point Hall Committee, chair of the Hampton Bible Camp Board (former), and chair of the Belleisle Valley Fun Days Committee (former). He spent nine special years at Sussex Farm Supplies and enjoyed working in his retirement. Garnie was a kind-hearted man who took an invested interest in all he met. He loved lending a helping hand and always chose to put others ahead of himself. He had a simple, but devote faith in Christ and friends would say, "his faith never wavered."
Garnie will be sadly missed by his wife Paulette (Ganong) Boyd, sons Todd and Sonia (Hebert) Boyd, Trent and Laurie (Goupille) Boyd, daughter Marsha (Boyd) and Colin Mitchell; 13 grandchildren; sister Rosalie (Boyd) and William Wood, sisters-in-law Eileen (Mott) Boyd, Kathy (Ganong) and Frasier Morrell, Bonnie (Ganong) and Doug Bates, brother-in-law Ronnie and Susan (Perry) Ganong, father-in-law Paul Ganong and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brother Howard Boyd, his parents Everett and Elsie (Brown) Boyd, his mother-in-law, Rita (Stanley) Ganong, and brothers-in-laws Terry Ganong and Jeff Ganong.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood's Funeral Home and Life Tribute Centre (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB. He is resting at Hatfield Point Baptist Church, 41 Hatfield Point Loop Rd, Hatfield Point, NB E5T 2S3, with visitation on Sunday from 2pm to 5pm and 6pm to 8pm. The funeral service will be held from Outreach Pentecostal Church, 2129 Route 124, Hatfield Point, NB, at 2:00pm on Monday, February 8, 2016. A private family burial will take place in the spring at Bayview Cemetery.
