Obituary of George Steeves

It is with heavy hearts, the family announce the passing of George Thomas Steeves, which occurred on Tuesday, August 18, 2026 at the Cohen Hall-Shannex, Saint John, NB. He was born January 13, 1952 in Saint John, NB, a son of the late Thomas and Louise (Hazelwood) Steeves.

George was a man who found joy in the little things in life from the freedom of riding his motorcycle, quiet days spent fly fishing, cracking his dad jokes, or keeping beat to his favourite music. 

Being a father to his four sons held a special place in his heart. He took great pride in watching them grow and was proud of the men they became. Then came the joy of becoming Grampy. He led with love, guided with wisdom and embraced this role with his whole heart. 

Above all else George’s greatest love was his wife, Coleen. Sharing a bond truly special. They experienced life side by side, creating countless memories. Having faith as the foundation of their marriage they built a life together that was something he treasured deeply. 

Though our hearts are broken by George’s passing, we will continue to find him in the things he loved. His memory will live on in the hearts of everyone who loved him.

George is survived by his loving wife, of almost 52 years, Coleen (O’Hara) Steeves; his sons: Josh Steeves (Heidi) of Carleton County, NB, Tyler Steeves (Dawn) of Midland, NB, Jason Steeves of Kennebecasis, NB and Aaron Steeves of Saint John, NB; grandchildren: Peter, Veronica, Hunter, Connor, and Luke; sister-in-law Joanne Crowe (Raymond) of Saint John, NB and nieces: Andrea and Heather Crowe.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home (506-839-2156) 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB, from where visitation will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026 from 4 to 7PM.  The funeral service will be held at the Midland Baptist Church on Tuesday, August 25, 2026 at 11:00AM, followed by the burial in the Midland Cemetery.
