Obituary of Willis Oluf Ravn

It is with great sadness that the family of Willis Oluf Ravn announce his passing which occurred on Sunday, February 8, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Midland, NB, on March 5, 1939, he was the son of the late Oluf and Velzora (Totton) Ravn.

Willis was, above all, a devoted family man whose life was rooted in love for his family and his community where he was born and raised and lived his lifetime.  A passionate outdoorsman, he found his greatest joy on the golf course, in the woods and under open skies – especially on hole #6, where his legendary skills earned him more holes-in-one than anyone else.

The joy of hunting is evidenced by the numerous antlers at home.  He fondly reminisced over his moose and caribou hunting stories of Doaktown and Newfoundland.

Whether golfing, hunting or simply soaking in the beauty of nature, he cherished the simple pleasures in life.  He took deep pride in being a husband, father, grandfather, and in giving back as a respected member of his community.   Known for his quick wit and that unmistakable grin that surfaced whenever hunting stories and jokes were shared, he brought warmth and laughter wherever he went.

He will be missed more than words can say and remembered always for the love, humor, and steady presence he so freely gave.

Willis is survived by his loving wife Carole Ann Ravn of Midland, NB; children: Pennie Deluney (Jodi) of Sussex Corner, NB, Richard Ravn (Louise) of Midland, NB and Brent Ravn (Christine) of Williams Lake, BC; grandchildren: Shelby Deluney, Tasha Deluney, Liam Ravn and Katelynn Ravn; brother Karl Ravn of Midland, NB; sister Marlene Stockford (Dave) of Wickham, NB; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Willis was predeceased by his brother Cyril Ravn; sister Madilene Carpenter; and sister-in-law Freda Ravn.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Sherwood’s Funeral Home (506-839-2156), 18 Scovil Road, Norton, NB where visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00pm. A private family interment will take place in the spring at Midland Cemetery, Midland, NB.
