Obituary of Carolee Steeves

It is with great sadness that the family of Carolee Ann Steeves announce her passing, which occurred on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Hatfield Point, NB, on August 7, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Osborne and Beatrice (Ogilvie) Daniels.

At the age of 15, Carolee met the love of her life, Charlie Steeves. Together they built a life on a strong foundation of love, trust, and commitment, raising a family that was always at the heart of everything they did.

Carolee was a warm and vibrant woman who brought joy wherever she went. She had a deep love for travel and was always eager to experience new places, foods, and cultures. Her adventurous spirit was matched by the comfort of home, where she found happiness in baking treats for her loved ones and welcoming friends with open arms and a good conversation. She never met a stranger—only future friends—and her kindness and laughter left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She had a deep affection for music of all kinds and was a loyal fan of The Voice, never missing an episode.

Carolee is survived by her children: Shannon Sherwood (Jim) of Hampton, NB, and Shane Steeves (Shawna Shorey) of Quispamsis, NB; grandchildren: Jordan Sherwood, Bailey Sherwood, Ava Steeves, and Mason Steeves. She is also survived by her siblings: Daryl Daniels (Edie) of Quispamsis, NB, and Janet Robertson (Jimmy Pittman) of Lunenburg, NS; as well as her brother-in-law, Victor Girouard of St. George, NB. Carolee will also be fondly remembered by her nieces and nephews: Kellye Robertson (Matt Daye), Tracey Hachey (Matt), Carla Daniels (Adam Dunn), Becky Martin (Robert), Jason Daniels (Denieve), and Matthew Daniels (Olivia McAuley); and by her uncle and aunt, David and Sandra Ogilvie.

Besides her parents, Carolee was predeceased by her sister Bonnie Girouard, twin sisters Sandra and Sharon Daniels, and her loving husband, Charlie Steeves.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home in Hampton, NB. All services will be held privately. Donations in memory of Carolee may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and memorial donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
