Obituary of John McCready
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts the family of John Robert McCready announce his passing on April 7, 2025, at the Sussex Health Centre. John was born February 28, 1942, in Shannon, NB, the son of the late Harold and Josephine (Innis) McCready.
From an early age John developed a love for farming on the family farm (which has been in the family for over 200 years). John enjoyed farming well into his 70’s when his son Peter took over the working of the farm under the watchful eye of his father. The farm was always a place of contentment for John. He was always happiest with anything that involved working with the tractor.
John went to work at the Irving Dry Dock in 1969 and learned to weld and became an excellent welder. John Worked at the Dry Dock until 1981. In 1982 John went to work at the Irving Sussex Sawmill for a few weeks on a welding project. While there he was offered a position as Production Supervisor. John loved working at the mill where he made many good friends.
John was truly happy when he was able to spend time with family, from Christmas dinners with brothers and sisters to anything with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. John loved his family. As well as his family he had a great love for his Saviour Jesus Christ. He lived with a positive attitude. He had many great friends, but the four (BRAIN TRUST) members were his best friends. In his later years John loved to sit in his recliner and listen to Country and Gospel Music. When his feet were moving and his hands were tapping you knew he was enjoying the music. John loved to whistle, if you didn't know where he was, you could stop and listen for the tune.
John is survived by his loving wife of almost 60 years, Marion (Raven) McCready of Bloomfield, NB; his children: Peter McCready (Deborah) of Bloomfield, NB, Tim McCready (Pam) of Coldbrook, NS, Heather Waugh (Randy) of Petitcodiac, NB, Stacey McCready (Todd) of Norton, NB; grandchildren: Taylor (Carly), Josephine (Eric), Noah, Johnathan, Olivia, Adam (Leighann), Andrew, Aaron (Erin), great-grandchildren Brantley, Valerie and Mya.
